This exercise stretches the deep corners of the shoulder

 

We often only care about what we can see

 

Stretch the chest because we can see it. Train the chest for the same reason

 

The back of the shoulder if often neglected but it can be the source of pain in situations such as

  • Pain when sleeping
  • Stiff when putting on coat
  • Armpit pain when using shoulder

 

The sleeper stretch is a great way to target the posterior (back) rotator cuff and the joint capsule, as long as it is appropriate. Feel free to ask one of us to have a look at your shoulders or any other joints before you start any new exercises
