I’m having great fun working with a very enthusiastic patient at the moment who has back pain but wants to lose weight at the same time. For her, getting results fast is necessary for her to continue. Ie she needs a taste of fast progress to motivate her to continue.

There’s two pieces of advice that enabled her to lose 4.5lbs in 1 week. 

Clock everything on myfitnesspal

Myfitnesspal is an app that you can use as a food diary and calorie counter. It helped my patient become conscious of her decisions so that she could make better decisions

Eat a fruit salad or a bowl of mediterranean inspired vegetables before 

The combination of fiber and water found in plants increases satisfaction, keeping you full for longer. It’s really simple. People who eat more plants are lighter. But also, because plants contain a lot of micronutrients (vitamins and minerals), when we have enough of them we don’t tend to feel as tired. This means we’re less likely to eat to compensate for tiredness. 

My patient felt her sense of wellbeing sky rocket after this first week and I can’t wait to see how she’s doing at her next appointment.
