The correct way to sit for your spine may surprise you

The correct way to sit for your spinal health may surprise you.

Excruciating back pain is a normal presentation at the clinic. But when a patient’s pain is made worse by sitting upright, we often advise our patients to slump.

Studies show that we spend, on average, 70% of our time in flexion (ie slumped)

Our ligaments and discs are incredibly strong and can often maintain this position with ease. However, long-term compression can inflame these structures which are designed to be pumped.

The best thing you can do, is be an “active sitter”

Keep moving, adjusting, standing, rotating etc

Don’t become locked into your screen for hours on end. Move.
