You may notice that pain is very similar to fear.
Stoic Philosopher Seneca said that “we fear more in imagination than we do in reality”.
Similarly, much of our pain is in our body’s anticipation of damage rather than damage itself. This is why pain clinicians are abandoning default use of MRI. MRI findings don’t correlate to pain.
This was Jeremie’s predicament. His shoulder had healed after dislocating it a year ago but he was left with significant weakness and hesitancy in using his shoulder.
He dislocated his shoulder by someone pulling his arm backwards behind him. So we practiced an exercise which enabled him to load his arm, confidently, in this range of motion.
Check out the moment he realised he could return to playing football via the video link.
