Firstly prioritising stability or bracing against force. This can then be progressed into ankle rolls, where the patient can try to control circumduction (rotation) of the ankle whilst weight bearing

 

We then have toe and heel walking which is just a fun and easy way to mobilise and challenge the ankle in its least stable position (plantar flexion)

 

This patient should make a full recovery in 4 weeks; ready to get back to football. We just need to scale into eccentric loading, pylometrics and endurance
